Browns take down Colts, 27-19
The defeated the Indianapolis Colts 27-19 on Sunday, marking the first time since 2007 that the team has started the season 1-1. The victory was also a milestone for Pat Shurmur, who picked up his first win as an head coach.
Behind the rushing of Peyton Hillis, big plays from Josh Cribbs and the accuracy of Colt McCoy, the Browns were able to take down the Colts and spoil their home opener at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Cleveland's defense also performed well, limiting Indianapolis to one touchdown and stifling the offense for much of the game. D'Qwell Jackson led the way for the second week in a row, completing eight tackles, while Usama Young picked off Kerry Collins at the 14:46 mark.
Evan Moore got the Browns on the scoreboard with a 16-yard reception from McCoy for his second touchdown of the season and third of his career. Cribbs grabbed four receptions at the wide receiver position and also made some big plays on special teams doing what he does best. His 52-yard kick return and 43-yard punt return both set up eventual Hillis touchdowns. McCoy was an efficient 22-of-32 for 211 yards for the Browns,Mike Pouncey Jerseys, who ran on 34 play calls and used the passing game on 32 plays. Cleveland also committed just three penalties in the game.
For the Colts, Collins went 16-of-33 for 157 yards and Adam Vinatieri was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals which included a 52-yarder. Indianapolis drops to 0-2 on the season for the first time since 1998 - when Peyton Manning (out indefinitely with a neck injury) was a rookie.
