NFL Combine Report: Jamie Dukes blames Dallas Cowboys for higher combine standards
Network mouth Jamie Dukes is mad because he wasn't invited to the combine when he was coming into the league in 1986 out of Florida State.
Dukes was an All Pro offensive lineman, but he wasn't invited to the 300-player event that tests players' strength, speed, agility and overall talent.
Dukes says it is the fault of the Dallas that he was not invited.
NFL Network analyst Jamie Dukes can vouch for that. Despite being a four-year All-America offensive guard at Florida State, he didn't even get invited when the combine was held in 1986.
"Height was an issue,Brian Hartline Jerseys," said Dukes,Yeremiah Bell Jersey, who is 6-foot-1. "The Cowboys had put together these principles that mandated centers had to be 6-3 or better, guards 6-4 and tackles 6-5. I had eight to 10 teams that said they wanted to draft me but said their general manager wouldn't allow it."
The combine is the biggest NFL event in the offseason besides the actual draft. At these events we all get to see players we only hear about on the draft boards. Not all of the best guys are going to be there, but there's always newfound talent at these things, nike nfl jerseys.

Phil Dawson leads Cleveland Browns to 6-3 victory over Seattle Seahawks
Phil Dawson leads Cleveland Browns to 6-3 victory over Seattle Seahawks,Youth Miami Dolphins Jersey
Thank goodness for Phil Dawson’s right foot.
In his 13th season with the , Dawson kicked two field goals on Sunday, enough to defeat the 6-3 in a battle of two of the ’s weakest offenses.
Though two other field goal attempts were blocked by Seahawks defensive end Red Bryant, Dawson put the ball through the uprights in the second (52 yards) and fourth quarter (53 yards) to give the Browns their third win of the season. It was the first career game for Dawson with multiple 50+ yard field goals.
"We'll take this one," Dawson told the Associated Press. "We're probably not going to brag about it in 15 years, but we'll take the win."
Cleveland is now 3-3 while Seattle falls to 2-4. Though the game was forgettable on many levels, the Browns are now .500 for the first time since 2007.
Colt McCoy tallied 178 yard on 20-of-35 passing,Miami Dolphins Jerseys. Montario Hardesty carried the ball 33 times for 95 yards.
Chris Ogbonnaya, who signed with the Browns earlier in the week, caught five passes to lead the team with 43 receiving yards. Greg Little also had five catches and Evan Moore grabbed four.
Cleveland held the advantage in many offensive categories, including a 20-9 edge in first downs and 84 total plays compared to 50. The Browns tallied 298 total yards compared to 137 for Seattle and 141 rushing yards to 65 for the Seahawks. Seattle possessed the ball for just 17:06 of the game while Cleveland held the ball for 42:56.
T.J. Ward led the Browns with 6 tackles and 1 sack. Browns defense was also led by Jabaal Sheard, Chris Gocong and D’Qwell Jackson, holding Seattle to just 2,nike nfl jerseys.7 yards per play.
Charlie Whitehurst was just 12-30 for 97 yards in leading the Seahawks' offense.
Cleveland played without Scott Fujita (concussion) and Peyton Hillis (hamstring). Several Browns were also injured in the contest: Mohamed Massaquoi (concussion), Benjamin Watson (concussion) and Shawn Lauvao (right knee).
Seattle was playing without starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. Marshawn Lynch (back) got hurt in warm-ups and did not play. Walter Thurmond (broken leg) and Kam Chancellor (knee) were injured in the game.

Packers-Cardinals- Packers' strengths become their weaknesses
Packers-Cardinals: Packers' strengths become their weaknesses
ended the season with an absolute debacle ondefense, leading to a playoff exit for the Packers. (AP Photo/PaulConnors).
Throughout the regular season, the excelled in two key areas that led them to an 11-5 record and a Wildcard berth in the playoffs. Those areas, turnover margin and pass defense, were staples of the team and categories in which the Packers found themselves near the top of the league for the majority of the year,Jake Long Jersey.
However, in Sunday's 51-45 loss to the , the Packers were careless with the ball and allowed quarterback to pass for some of the best stats in his storied playoff career. Turnovers and pass defense, the two areas the Packers thrived in during the year, killed the Packers' chances and were ultimately the reason the Packers packed for home instead of New Orleans.
In the 2009 regular season, the Packers finished with a +22 turnover margin, meaning they took the ball away 22 more times on defense than they gave it away on offense. The number was the highest since San Diego's +24 mark in 2007, and the third highest in the since 2002. The second closest team was Philadelphia, who had a +15 turnover margin.
The Packers had a league-low of 15 giveaways in the form of just seven interceptions and eight fumbles, and were second to just the Saints in takeaways with 37,Matt Moore Jerseys. The combination of taking chances only when necessary with the playmaking abilities of Charles Woodson made a perfect recipe for turnover margin.
Sunday, the Packers failed to take care of the ball and offense and, outside of a couple forced fumbles, never put the Cardinals in situations where they would have turned the ball over. Nothing should be taken away from Aaron Rodgers, who performed admirably and grew from inexperienced passer to professional quarterback in the span of three and a half hours, but his interception to start the game turned the momentum completely.
Aaron Rodgers had a couple miscues that ended up costingthe Packers dearly. (AP Photo/Paul Connors)
Hopefully it will be a trivia question one day when Rodgers is in Canton, but for now the careless interception marks a swing in a game that came down to who had the ball last. The weirdest part about the interception was that it was so anti-Rodgers, on the run forcing a throw into traffic instead of living to fight another day. After throwing just seven interceptions on 541 pass attempts, it was confusing to see that play.
Then came on the team's next possession, who caught a pass from Rodgers but was stripped by Karlos Dansby (who tipped the ball on Rodgers' interception). Driver started off the year on a tear but dropped passes and fumbles (he lost two on the year) cost the Packers, especially against the Cardinals, who wound up getting seven more points out of the fumble,Dan Carpenter Jersey.
The last turnover of the game for the Packers was clearly the most costly, as Rodgers was hit and sacked by cornerback Michael Adams, before (guess who?) Karlos Dansby ran the returned fumble 27 yards for the game-ending touchdown.
While it wasn't Rodgers fault for the stellar defensive play, it marked the Packers' third turnover compared to the Cardinals' one, a fumble by on an outstanding play by Charles Woodson that was returned by . The rookie from Southern California also stripped Kurt Warner on a botched flea-flicker, but the ball was recovered by Arizona.
While the Packers failed to intercept Warner in the game, it was their inability to stop him in any sense that left the Green Bay faithful scratching their heads wondering if they were watching the same defense. The old saying in football is that in order to win in January, you have to run the ball. Well, in Sunny Glendale with a roof over your head, Warner and the Cards found out passing the ball is what wins games.
Don't forget the Cardinals were able to reel off 156 rushing yards in the game, but the real story was the Packers failing to stop Warner through the air. By the end of the game, Warner had more touchdowns (five) than incompletions (four). He passed for 379 yards and a ridiculous 11.5 yards per attempt, and it would have been higher had Beanie Wells not had his way on the ground.
While the Packers didn't win the game, they still showed a lot ofpromise from their young players like (above)and . (AP Photo/Paul Connors)
When playing against a defense like the Packers, having a quarterback who is both poised and accurate makes for a perfect combination. When pressure came to Warner, he knew exactly where to find his check-downs and hit them right in stride. Knowing for jumping routes, the Packers' secondary could not do so against Warner's precise passes that beat them up for four quarters.
For the last six weeks of the regular season, the Packers seemingly forgot about Al Harris because of how well the defense was playing. But against a Hall of Fame quarterback at home in the playoffs, the likes of Jarrett Bush, Brandon Underwood, and even starter Tramon Williams were no match, regardless of how much pressure was brought at the Arizona signal-caller.
Atari Bigby leaving with a hamstring injury only made things worse for the pass defense, as Matt Giordano, a special teamer, was asked to stop Warner's hot hand at strong safety.
Two aspects that made the Packers one of the most efficient teams in the league were the same things that led to their demise in the playoffs. One has to consider the playoff game a hiccup rather than the whole season a fluke because of the consistent numbers put up by the defense, but it's still a shame to see a once confident defense end the season with their tail between their legs.

Felix Jones disappoints fans in mistake signing event
Dallas and Felix Jones fans lined up at a minor league baseball game because they thought Cowboys star running back Felix Jones was going to sign some fans' stuff,Miami Dolphins Jerseys.
Jones was really there to throw the ceremonial first pitch for a game in Little Rock. It just so happens that his pitched bounced to the catcher, further embarrassing himself to Cowboys fans.
Apparently the signing mishap was just a miscommunication,Brian Hartline Jerseys, albeit a sad one,Jason Taylor Jerseys. Most people wouldn't have gone to the minor league game if someone within the minor league team organization didn't screw up to boost ticket sales.

Browns take down Colts, 27-19
Browns take down Colts, 27-19
The defeated the Indianapolis Colts 27-19 on Sunday, marking the first time since 2007 that the team has started the season 1-1. The victory was also a milestone for Pat Shurmur, who picked up his first win as an head coach.
Behind the rushing of Peyton Hillis, big plays from Josh Cribbs and the accuracy of Colt McCoy, the Browns were able to take down the Colts and spoil their home opener at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Cleveland's defense also performed well, limiting Indianapolis to one touchdown and stifling the offense for much of the game. D'Qwell Jackson led the way for the second week in a row, completing eight tackles, while Usama Young picked off Kerry Collins at the 14:46 mark.
Evan Moore got the Browns on the scoreboard with a 16-yard reception from McCoy for his second touchdown of the season and third of his career. Hillis rushed for two touchdowns (1 yard, 24 yards), marking the fourth time in his career that he has had multiple rushing touchdown games,Matt Moore Jerseys. He finished the game with 94 yards on 27 carries.
Cribbs grabbed four receptions at the wide receiver position and also made some big plays on special teams doing what he does best. His 52-yard kick return and 43-yard punt return both set up eventual Hillis touchdowns. Cribbs and Mohamed Massaquoi both snagged four passes for 40+ yards while rookie Greg Little hauled in three passes for 38 yards,Big & Tall Miami Dolphins Jerseys.
McCoy was an efficient 22-of-32 for 211 yards for the Browns,Mike Pouncey Jerseys, who ran on 34 play calls and used the passing game on 32 plays. Cleveland also committed just three penalties in the game.
For the Colts, Collins went 16-of-33 for 157 yards and Adam Vinatieri was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals which included a 52-yarder. Indianapolis drops to 0-2 on the season for the first time since 1998 - when Peyton Manning (out indefinitely with a neck injury) was a rookie.

The “worst” Cowboys of all time- #8, Jimmy Johnson
The “worst” Cowboys of all time: #8, Jimmy Johnson
When you think of Superman, you think of the cape. Batman? The cowl. Wonder Woman? The truth lasso (man's worst enemy). In the sports world Michael Jordan is remembered for the wagging tongue or the shoes. “Yeah Money, it’s gotta be the shoes!” (Missed the reference? Mars Blackmon. Look it up, young Jedi Knights.) Tiger Woods has – or had - the victory-is-coming-and-there’s-nothing-you-can-do-about-it fist pump. Aaron Rodgers? The faux title belt “accessorization,Women's Miami Dolphins Jersey.” Former head coach is, undoubtedly, most synonymous with his hair. It was helmet-like. It was otherworldly. It rarely moved. It was reminiscent of the hair styling of the original Oopma Loompas. It was, most importantly, an endless fountain of critical material for ‘Skins fans. Was it real? What sort of “product” helped create this immovable object that defied the most violent forces of nature? And was the product available over-the-counter or only on the black market to Hollywood starlets and Johnson (in other words, the obsessively vain)?
Unfortunately, there was much more to Johnson than just his follicle fixations. Under that hairspray-saturated lid was a brilliant football mind. Johnson, head coach of the Cowboys from 1989 through 1993 (it seemed like so much longer), oversaw Dallas’ rise from the lowest depths of the NFL to its peak. Johnson, 1-15 in his first season, quickly turned the Cowboys into the most dominant team in the NFL and won the Super Bowl in his final two seasons with Dallas. However, the “what” he did with the Cowboys wasn’t nearly as offensive as “how” he did it.
Johnson didn’t just make Dallas good again,Yeremiah Bell Jersey; he equipped his Cowboys teams with a brazen attitude and overflowing arrogance to accompany their skill. In case you weren’t sure whether Dallas was better than you, they’d let you know it and, once they were done proving it, they’d rub your nose in the stench of the post-game carnage that was once your hope and competitive determination. Like Johnson himself, his teams dared to be great, talked about it constantly and backed up every bit their self-promoting monologue.
The coupling of Johnson the coach and Jerry Jones the owner was as electric as the marriage of two A-list Hollywood stars; thankfully, it also had similar staying power. Success couldn’t compel the two bloated egos to coexist. After just 5 years at the helm, and in spite of coming off two consecutive Super Bowl titles, Jimmy and Jerry accomplished what no opponent seemed capable of: the destruction of what might have become the greatest dynasty in NFL history. While Dallas managed another title after Johnson’s departure,Reggie Bush Jersey, it’s hard to tell how many Super Bowls they would have won with him. Fortunately, like the true ingredients of Johnson’s hair product cocktail, we’ll never know.
Hail…Sons of Washington!

Cardinals ranked #13 in first CBS Sports NFL rankings
Cardinals ranked #13 in first CBS Sports NFL rankings
earlier this week released its first "power rankings" since the draft and the Arizona Cardinals fared well at number 13.
After losing many key players through free agency and signing several key additions of their own, the Cardinals head into mini-camp and off-season workouts (OTAs) with many question marks. The main concern? Quarterback. Will it be ? (signed as a free agent) or someone else? Marc Bulger or JaMarcus Russell come to mind,Davone Bess Jersey.
CBS Sports gives the nod to Leinart and honestly, with the talent that surrounds the fifth-year quarterback, I tend to agree. Leinart has perhaps the best receiver in the NFL, Larry Fitzgerald,Steve Slaton Jerseys, as his main target. Up and comers Steve Breaston and Early Doucet on the other side and don't forget second-year running back Beanie Wells in the backfield.
While the Cardinals sit in 13th spot in the rankings, the list is headed by the Saints, Colts and Chargers. The nearest NFC West rival is the 49ers at 21, the Seahawks at 25 and the Rams dead last at 32.
